What does one have to do when they start to have the ni’yah to go for Hajj?

Find out the real meaning of doing Hajj and what are the various procedures and rituals involved. Find out the do’s and don’t’s. You can also find books, pamphlets or web-sites that can provide this information.

Talk to friends or relatives who have been for Hajj and ask them questions and find out everything about Hajj. Find out about accommodation, costs, facilities available, what to bring and what not to bring.

Once you are well informed about the religious requirements of Hajj, the next thing you should do is to check around for the various Hajj packages available.

This is best done also by asking friends who have been to Hajj, to recommend a good package to go with or which packages to avoid.

Don’t compare prices blindly as there are many costs involved during Hajj. For example, is food included? Breakfast only or half board or full board? Is Qurban included? Are the muassasah fees included? How many people per room? Is travel between cities by air or by bus? What is the total period of the programme? Who will accompany the group? Who do you look for if you have problems? What is the main language of communication? These are all important factors to look into. General Guidelines For Hajj:

Vaccination certificates must be carried at all times for inspection by the Saudi Authority at port of entry.

The last day to enter Jeddah's King Abdulaziz Airport for Hajj purposes is 4 Dhu Al-Hijjah of each year.

Food products are NOT allowed into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Pilgrims must hand their passports to the custody of the Unified Agents Office representatives to enable the completion of all travel formalities to Makkah and Madinah.

All pilgrims must leave the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after Hajj no later than the 10th of Muharram of each year. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia forbids any pilgrims from remaining after the completion of Hajj.
